HP DeskJet 5550 stopped printing

Hi,
I tried printconf and it couldn't detect the HP DeskJet 5550.
It appears as it the USB Port on my PC is shot, or maybe the USB cable to the printer is broken. I'm not sure why that should happen as USB is supposed to be hot-pluggable.
Here's what I get from CUPS when I try to print a test page to lp0:
"Unable to open USB device "usb:/dev/usb/lp0": No such device"

scanpci says it's there but CUPS can't see it for some reason.
Here's everything scanpci says about USB:
pci bus 0x0000 cardnum 0x13 function 0x00: vendor 0x1106 device 0x3038
 VIA Technologies, Inc. USB

pci bus 0x0000 cardnum 0x13 function 0x01: vendor 0x1106 device 0x3038
 VIA Technologies, Inc. USB

pci bus 0x0000 cardnum 0x13 function 0x02: vendor 0x1106 device 0x3104
 VIA Technologies, Inc. USB 2.0

My MB is an ECS K7S5A PRO with USB 1.x and 2.0.

The USB printer _used_ to work >:(
