cupstestppd foomatic ppds errors

CUPS version: 1.1.23_rc1 (gentoo)
Foomatic version: 3.0.2 (20040302)
Printer: HP LaserJet 4100 with duplex unit through HP JetDirect
PPD: Generic-PostScript_Printer-Postscript (foomatic)

Problem started with failure in duplex printing: CUPS simply reported the job is done without any printout nor errors in /var/log/cups/error_log at all.

Diagnostic:
root # cupstestppd /usr/share/ppd/Generic/Generic-PostScript_Printer-Postscript.ppd.gz
/usr/share/ppd/Generic/Generic-PostScript_Printer-Postscript.ppd.gz: FAIL
      **FAIL**  Bad Duplex choice Notcapable!

With that, I changed to foomatic HP-LaserJet_4100-ljet4.ppd and problem solved. As a matter of curiosity, I did:

root # cupstestppd /usr/share/ppd/*/* 2>&1|grep FAIL

and _a_lot_ of ppds gave almost the same errors in ppd. Is this some bug?
