HP Photosmart 7660

Hello, I'm having trouble with my HP photosmart 7660 printer. I can't get it to print any postscript based files. It seems to print text but the second  I try a postscript file however it down't work. For instance the test page in cups doesn't work.

I've tracked it down to a problem with either esp ghostscript driver, the hpij driver or cups's call to the esp ghostscript driver. The printer starts printing and then it just stops. If I leave it alone eventually it prints out an error message that says:


Error: /invalidfon in findfon Operand stack: bigFont <fontname> font

Where font name can be just about any font it can't find at the time.

A look into the error_log file in my hard drive gives the following error:

Some additional information is that I'm currently using slackware 9.1 for my linux distro. It comes with older versions of cups and ghostscript which also don't work.
