[cups.development] changing backend path

Hello,

how can I change the path for external programs that are used by backends 
?
>From "man backend" :

ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
       The following environment variables are defined by the CUPS server 
when
       executing the backend:

       [...]

       PATH
            The standard execution path for external programs that may be 
run
            by the backend.

I want to add some custom paths...
