Your spad2.ps has been created by xpdf 2.03 which is fairly old and has some bugs concerning
TrueType fonts and especially font sets. You should upgrade to xpdf 3.01 (which is the most recent,
as far as I know), that works.

If CUPS' pdftops filter does not work, you could try the alternate pdftops filter which calls the 
original pdftops utility from Xpdf. That will work provided your Xpdf version is at least 3.00.
