[cups.bugs] [HIGH] STR #1572: Cannot open X display `(null)'

Hello,
I have a linux debian server which i have a wiki knowledge base on it.  I
am trying to get the math functionality working on the wiki which requires
ghostscript. However when run gs from bash i get the following error
message;
 Cannot open X display `(null)'.
**** Unable to open the initial device, quitting.

Would someone be able to give me some guidance on how to resolve the
problem?
