Okay, I dug out the manual for the printer and found that I had noted (two years ago) that I had found somewhere that this printer was probably the same as the RX600 or RX610 oversees. On Fedora Core 6, without gutenprint installed, the gimp-print PPD for the RX600 prints a perfect test page, edge to every edge, but fails to physically eject the page at the very end. With gutenprint installed, it prints perfectly, edge-to-edge on all edges except the final edge, where it seems to lose the last millimeter or so.

The RX620 and RX630 drivers and the RX600 non-gimp-print drivers also seem to work well, but I'm not getting the last millimeter or so of the left and right edges. One, I think it was RX620 with the ijs simplified non-foomatic driver, printed the final line about two millimeters short of the A4 page. (And suddenly I'm wondering how the system knew to print A4 pages.)

Sorry for the noise.
