I've searched around in the system and found, that cups-driverd is using
/var/cache/cups/ppds.dat

I've found, that the ppds.dat file exists from the previous CUPS 1.1
installation and deleted the file.

After restarting CUPS, the ppds.dat file was recreated and cups-driverd is
working now as expected. Now I can add/coonfigure/modify printers.

I think, someone should investigate what to do with an old ppds.dat file.
