[cups.bugs] [HIGH] STR #1810: Manufacturer/Model menu not shown in webbased administration menu when selecting autodetected printer

Situation: Canon Bubblejet 2100 attached to parallel port.

While /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel reports:
direct parallel:/dev/lp0 "Unknown" "LPT #1"
the webfrontend https://localhost:631/admin shows this printer as
CANON (Parallel Port #1)
AND
EPSON (Parallel Port #1)

Trying to add this printer resuls in cupsd calling
/usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-driverd list 1 0 requested-attributes=all
ppd-make='Generic'
which is apparently wrong and just displays the "Generic" printer driver
list.

Apart from this bug (I think it is one), there should be a button (feature
reauest) in the model selection page that leads you to the manufacturer
list that you would also get when NO printer is autodetected.
