First, the examples are not intended to be "complete" or detailed - that is
what the help link is for in CUPS 1.2.

Second, ipp://hostname/printers/printername is only valid for hardwiring
connections to other CUPS servers. Since doing do is relatively rare
compared to the other uses, we aren't going to list this form because it
will probably cause more confusion than anything else (as appears to be
the case here...)

In summary, unless you are hardwiring a remote CUPS printer, you will
*not* be using ipp://hostname/printers/printername for a URI. There are
better/easier ways to do this (BrowsePoll on the client, BrowseAddress on
the server) for all remote printers on a server.
