Dear all!
I am using Debian/sid, ie cups 1.1.23, debian release -15, and have the following problem: Always afte 5 pages the printing stops. This happens on local USB printers, but also remote network printers!
I have turned up the loglevel to debug and found the following in error_log:
...
Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/lpd (PID 25556) for job 170.
ProcessIPPRequest: 7 status_code=0
CloseClient: 7
[Job 170] Page = 595x842; 12,12 to 583,830
[Job 170] slowcollate=0, slowduplex=0, sloworder=0
[Job 170] 0 %%Creator: dvips(k) 5.95b Copyright 2005 Radical Eye Software
...
[Job 170] 0 %%Page: 1 1
[Job 170] pw = 571.1, pl = 817.7
[Job 170] PageLeft = 12.0, PageRight = 583.1
[Job 170] PageTop = 829.9, PageBottom = 12.2
[Job 170] PageWidth = 595.0, PageLength = 842.0
...
then the same for page 2, page 3, page 4, and page 5. At page 6 suddenly:
[Job 170] 0 %%Page: 6 6
[Job 170] 0 %%Page: 7 7
[Job 170] 0 %%Page: 7 7
[Job 170] 0 %%Page: 8 8
[Job 170] 0 %%Page: 8 8
and so on for the 42 pages I want to print.
Then further down:
...
[Job 170] lpd_command 02 86 cfA556bagnasciuga
[Job 170] Sending command string (22 bytes)...
[Job 170] Reading command status...
[Job 170] lpd_command returning 0
[Job 170] lpd_command 03 119781 dfA556bagnasciuga
[Job 170] Sending command string (26 bytes)...
[Job 170] Reading command status...
[Job 170] lpd_command returning 0
UpdateJob: job 170, file 0 is complete.
CancelJob: id = 170
StopJob: id = 170, force = 0
StopJob: printer state is 3
...

Does one of you have an idea what could be the reason for this?

Thanks a lot for any comments and all the best

Norbert
