cups configuration error

hello all,

I have tried to install cups 1.2.3 on Fedora Core 4
with Kernel 2.6.17. I could see cups daemon in /usr/sbin
after the installation. But it did not start.
I tried - service cupsd start
it gave me - cupsd: unrecognized service
As a standalone - cupsd &
it gave - [1] 14533
 [1] means i guess some error - what i dont know.

Anybody has any idea? Should I post the config.log for
the installation?
