CUPS Ubuntu 7.04 lp -n lpr -# will not print multiple copies

Yes I am certain -- under Windows I can print, like I said, about 6 labels a second, and of course on the 2300n there is a delay at the beginning -- the initial request sent to the printer, but after that the pages will come out about once every 3 seconds.

Not to mention the fact that these are all single page jobs.

Each label is a 3" x 1" barcode (printed on the Zebra), and each invoice is just a standard 8.5x11 invoice -- 2 small graphics (about 200x100 px and 75x20 px) and the rest text.

I am 100% confident it is not a memory issue -- there is something I need to configure either in a PPD or with CUPS itself that is blocking me from printing multiple copies.
