Thanks for the flippant response, but there are no warnings regarding breaking of the GUI-based Apple tools included with the .dmg installer linked to from the download page on www.cups.org.  Can't read a warning if it's not there.

Here is what _is_ included in the CUPS 1.2.8 mac installer, including a reference to http://www.cups.org/str.php for "reporting all problems".  Whoever maintains the Mac installer needs to remove that reference if it's not the case that problems with the Mac OS X binaries are supported on cups.org, and an extra dot point pointing out the broken GUI issue as part of the warning regarding what's required to downgrade back to 1.1.  The text from the installer currently reads:




This program will install CUPS 1.2.8, replacing the CUPS 1.1.x software that is included with MacOS X.

WARNING

Because MacOS X packages cannot be uninstalled, you will need to reinstall MacOS X to revert to the original CUPS 1.1.x software.
