Hi!

I'm on Ubuntu Feisty, and I have issues with detection of my USB printer, a Canon PIXMA MP600. I'm told the IP4200 drivers should work, but lpinfo -v tells me:

network socket
network beh
network bluetooth
direct hp:/no_device_found
network http
network ipp
network lpd
network smb

while "for f in /usr/lib/cups/backend/*; do $f; done" gives

network beh "Unknown" "Backend Error Handler"
network bluetooth "Unknown" "Bluetooth printer"
direct hp:/no_device_found "Unknown" "hp no_device_found"
network http "Unknown" "Internet Printing Protocol (http)"
network ipp "Unknown" "Internet Printing Protocol (ipp)"
bash: /usr/lib/cups/backend/lpd: Ã…tkomst nekas
network smb "Unknown" "Windows Printer via SAMBA"
network socket "Unknown" "AppSocket/HP JetDirect"
direct usb://Canon/MP600 "Canon MP600" "Canon MP600 USB #1" "MFG:Canon;CMD:BJL,BJRaster3,BSCCe;SOJ:TXT01;MDL:MP600;CLS:PRINTER;DES:Canon MP600;VER:1.04;STA:10;FSI:03;HRI:OTH;MSI:DAT,E3;"

Of course, neither the Web interface nor the GNOME printer applet can add the printer.

How come the USB printer is detected by the backend but not by lpinfo???
