[STR New]

The current PPD for the HP LaserJet 2605 (and a few older ones) have the
following problems with CUPS 1.3.8:

1. Using the CUPS web interface to manage printers, the page that displays
all of the configured printers shows "{printer_make_and_model}" in the
Printer Driver field instead of the actual name of the driver.
2. On the same screen, clicking on the "Set Printer Options" button
results in a page that reads "Error" followed by the line "Missing value
string".
3. The printer does not function with KDE 4.1 applications.

CUPS 1.3.8 appears to have a problem with the following section of the PPD
file:

    *OpenUI *HPCollateSupported/Collation in Printer: PickOne
    *DefaultHPCollateSupported: False128
    *HPCollateSupported True128/Yes<3A> Total RAM<3E>=128MB: ""
    *HPCollateSupported False128/No<3A> Total RAM<3C>128MB: ""
    *?HPCollateSupported: "
          save
                  mark
                  <</Policies <</Collate 0>> >> setpagedevice
                  { <</Collate true >> setpagedevice
                  } stopped
                  { (False128) }
                  { (True128) } ifelse = flush
                  cleartomark
          restore
    "
    *End
    *CloseUI *HPCollateSupported

If this section is commented out, the printer model appears, the "Set
Printer Options" feature functions and printing for KDE 4.1 applications
works without incident.

This section of the PPD is valid and it worked with previous versions of
CUPS. It stopped working with version 1.3.8. I have attached a copy of the
PPD to this report. It is not necessary to have this printer to see the
first two problems listed at the top of this report.

Before submitting this report, I created a test printer using the Color
LaserJet 3000 PPD, which has collate support as well. This PPD suffered
from the exact same symptoms.

Thank you for your time.
