[STR New]

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 - CUPS 1.3.7-1ubuntu3.
I noticed that when our gateway/DNS is down the CUPS webadmin is very very
slow when accessed from a remote machine. This does not appear to affect
when accessed via http://localhost:631/

I installed dnsmasq and turned on the log. I found the following:

Sep 16 16:21:58 chamraid01 dnsmasq[32468]: query[PTR]
228.178.168.192.in-addr.arpa from 127.0.0.1
Sep 16 16:21:58 chamraid01 dnsmasq[32468]: forwarded
228.178.168.192.in-addr.arpa to 69.111.95.106
Sep 16 16:21:58 chamraid01 dnsmasq[32468]: forwarded
228.178.168.192.in-addr.arpa to 192.168.178.254
Sep 16 16:21:58 chamraid01 dnsmasq[32468]: query[PTR]
228.178.168.192.in-addr.arpa from 127.0.0.1
Sep 16 16:21:58 chamraid01 dnsmasq[32468]: forwarded
228.178.168.192.in-addr.arpa to 192.168.178.254

chamraid01 is the CUPS machine IP 192.168.178.228. 192.168.178.254 is the
gateway/DNS. The remote machine in this instance is 192.168.178.222 -
there is no DNS lookup for it in the log.

It looks like the CUPS server is accessing DNS for the local machine
(rather than the remote). Surely the localmachine name can be found by
hostname()?

I am certain that HostNameLookups is Off. Please see attached cupsd.conf
to confirm.

Please contact at chameeya ss (one word) AT hotmail DOT com if any more
information is needed.

Thanks,
