The functionality I have asked for was already there, but the man page did
not tell about that.

Can you please add the appropriate info to the man page and also to other
documentation (online help in CUPS web interface, cupstestppd help output,
....). This way users and admins will now that if with "cupstestppd -r" they
get a PASS they have a PPD which CUPS will accept and with a FAIL they have
a PPD which CUPS will reject.
