Epson Stylus Color 640 not printing

Hi!

I'm trying to print from an Epson Stylus Color 640 (parallel cable), but it doesn't print a thing - the printer were recognized fine, and the power led flashes when i try to print, but nothing works further.

I'm on an Ubuntu 9.04 i386

(It seems similar a problem i had with a Lexmark 1100 (also parallel cable), which i never got printed a thing from there as well - i used this printer when i used dual-boot with ms-windows (now i'm only Ubuntu), when i had no problems there.)

Otherwise i could install and still use for years an HP Deskjet F300 (usb cable), never got a problem from that.

What i can imagine is CUPS only works with printers with USB cable, and doesn't support any printer by parallel cable?

How can i check better what seems to going on?
