Printer delay after print via USB question

Hello,

   I was wondering why some drivers exhibit the delay after printing and some do not (as per the problem I posted yesterday about the Tharo H-427 thermal-transfer printer experiencing a delay after a print job is sent via USB). As I mentioned earlier, a Zebra R110Xi printer works fine via USB. Is this a driver/filter (i.e., software) issue, or possibly a hardware problem with the printer? Any insight on this would be appreciated.
