This sounds like your Zebra printer does not like the new libusb-based
backend, which likely means it needs one of the workarounds implemented by
the kernel driver.

Recompile CUPS with the "--disable-libusb" option to use the old backend.
Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we're going to be able to "fix" this
without help from Zebra...
