Cups does not recognize printer on broadcom board

Hi,

I am using Cups 1.3.10 on Broadcom board and trying to configure it to use an USB printer EPSON STYLUS C82. Cups is installed correctly but either it needs some specific configuration or communication to driver is not proper.

Verified things:

The configuration mentioned in Cups documentation is verified. (http://cups.org/documentation.php?VERSION=1.3)

USB printer device file ‘usblp0 or lp0’ was missing under /dev directory even after the driver installation. The device node file with appropriate max, min number (180, 0 - I assume these are the correct numbers for printer device) is created and the path is updated in printers.conf file.
USB kernel module is also installed and able to detect the printer. (dmesg shows ‘USBlp0 Bidirectional printer connected’.)

Problem:

Cups GUI is not able to find the connected printer. Options like ‘Add printer’ / ‘Find new printer’ do not work. Even the command line printing options like lp, lpr, lpstat do not return any info.
Cups UI could show the queued job but nothing is printed. There seems no communication between Cups application and the printer. The communication is either missing or needs proper configuration.

I highly appreciate your help on this.

Thanks,
Shashank
