Unfortunately, without knowing the job ID (not provided as part of the LPD
print job response) and lacking a standard format for LPD status data
(both the long and short status formats vary widely depending on the
OS/printer used), it is basically impossible to do what you want.

(thus one of the reasons that IPP was created...)
