Toshiba laser printer and OS X 10.6.5 with CUPS 1.4.5

Converting a lawyers office over the long weekend and hit a wall. All printers here are Toshiba lasers and most worked well with the Toshiba drivers. One of them, an "e-Studio 500p" has a Toshiba supplied driver named Laser Printer 25C.gz. It gives the error:

/Library/Printers/Generic/filter/pdftopdfprinter failed

That file is not there on other installs, it must be installed by the Toshiba installer.

Choosing a generic laser or another Toshiba ppd it will print but the envelope feeder is of course not there and that is what they need to do on Monday: print hundreds of envelopes…

Toshiba is closed. They send you to dealers anyway and the dealer locator is broken and dealers must be closed also.

What are my options or other things I could try? I would edit the ppd to add the feature but since there is need for a filter and that is the part which fails that is probably no solution.

openprinting.org has a "foomatic" solution but that seems only Linux and I have no idea what to do with that. If I use their ppd it tells me about missing programs which need to be installed (foomatic-rip)
