Um, WiFi is wireless...  I assume you mean you are unplugging the Ethernet
cable from the printer...

This will eventually fail and break out of the loop, but it will take up
to 5 minutes for the TCP stack to realize that the printer is gone for
good.  Turning off local networking will immediately result in an error
because the interface is then down, shutting down all connections that
were made over that interface.
