[STR New]

Well, I tested your script using various systems (cups 1.5.x ans 1.7.x on
Linux and
a hacked 1.3.11 on Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.8).
I was able to reproduce the issue if the used font styles (plain, bold,
italic,
bold-italic) did differ in the glyphs installed.
SO, e.g. when using the FreeMono true type fonts (as is usual with recent
Linux
systems) the bold style font has only about half the glyphs the plain style
has.
Obviously, when trying to generate the font subsets for the PDF, the plain
style only is scanned, and afterwards the filter runs into the problem
requesting
non-existing glyphs in the bold and/or italic style.
It would take a severe effort to evaluate why the filter crashes with
segmentation
violation.
I strongly recommend to file a bug at openprinting.org.
