[cups-devel] Question on cups use

I have a large format printer that I want to use for imaging and plots, I
will state up front I worked in the CoreGraphics group at Apple for years
so I know how to code and all the Apple interfaces.

I find the factory printer interface difficult for my use and any sort of
automation, as for each image you have a different raster size and DPI or I
may have edge requirements so I am considering integrating a RIP interface
directly into the software I have written.

The question is I want to automate the print process by searching for
printers / determining the correct raster size for the DPI and paper size
then print it directly without a lot of fiddling with the print interface.

I use the printer for astro-imaging from space telescopes / photography /
NOAA charts / art stuff and I have written most of the software myself.


Is the CUPS interface the right place to do this?
