[cups-devel] How increase the frequency, CUPS checks the printer status

Hi all,
Sorry if that is a wrong list to ask that question. Please point me to the
correct one in that case.
We have a relatively old Fedora 21 system (cups-1.7.5-13.fc21.i686) and
trying to chase a bug that caused system to reboot. It happened very rarely
and we have suspicion that the root cause is interference between our
custom driver and printing subsystem (probably lp driver). We fixed the
interferrence between drivers by creating the .conf file in modprobe.d, Now
we need some way to increase a frequency of resets for testing.
I know that parallel port printers are not supported by CUPS anymore, but I
have a generic question.

Does cups daemon periodically checks printers status, or status is checked
when there is a notification from the kernel driver that something happened
to the printer?

Thanks,

Alex
