Adobe PS-driver generates huge jobs (1MB doc -> 400MB ps)

I doubt that it is doing that; more than likely the print data is
hex or base-85 encoded, so it will be slightly larger than raw
binary.

That said, if you are printing a document with embedded JPEG images,
chances are that the 1MB document size does not reflect the
uncompressed image sizes...
