cupsd slows down system boot

Hi
Since I have installed CUPS on my Debian box (kernel 2.6.5) the system needs an extra 15seconds to boot.
I already did some investigation. It seems that the cupsd loads the lp module and it takes allmost all these 15secs to load that module.
Well, I have a ps network printer. Does the lp module really need to be loaded at each reboot? Can I unconfigure this somehow?
How can I speed up the boot scenario again?
I appreciate any help, Thanks
Domy
