CUPS webface doesn't allow parallel port

I originally installed CUPS about a year ago. It was version 1.1.18. I have since upgraded to 1.1.20.

I'm running FreeBSD 4.10-STABLE.

When I installed 1.1.18, I noticed a quirk that I couldn't add a parallel printer unless it was turned on when the system booted.

But under 1.1.20, it won't let me specify a parallel URI at all. On FreeBSD, /dev/lpt0 is the first parallel port (I also made a hard link to lp, to no avail).

How is CUPS determining that a parallel port is a valid choice?

I should mention that I hand edit printers.conf and my printer does work.
