Waiting for printer to finish - error

First off, hello group :)

FWIW, I get the same behavior on Debian Sarge printing to my three HP 
LaserJet 2100's via socket://printername:9100 (HP LaserJet 2100 
Foomatic/pxlmono).  Print jobs originate on clients running Debian Sid, 
WindowsXP, and MacOS X.  I will look into hpnpf as suggested.  For those 
interested, here are some details of my CUPS box:
