[cups.general] WAS:install 1.1.22, cannot configure from web page,

Greetings;

I've installed 1.1.22, but cannot configure a printer after
adding it from the web page, getting a "server-internal-error"
response instead.

Having installed gutenprint-5.0 several months ago, I thought I'd
clean out some of the older gimp-print directories laying around,
but now, even before I installed 1.1.22, any attempt to print
using the lpd command returns a cannot find 'libcom_err.so.3"
library, and this library does not exist on this system as of the
updatedb run before the housecleaning was done.

So what am I now missing?

Also, how about a sample cups-1.1.22 configure line to make sure
it finds gutenprint-5.0.0-beta2?

The only option I gave it was --prefix=/usr.

Addendum: I finally did get it to use the libcom.so.2, but that
doesn't work yet, and regardless of what I did, nothing was being
written to the log files in /var/log/cups.

Then I discovered a cups.spec file in the archive so I fired off
an rpmbuild -ba cups.spec, which ended early because it didn't
like the "game:4000" group:owner of the spec file so i made it
root:root and then it appeared to build ok. But on trying to
install it with the usual -Uvh argument to rpm, it gives this
message:

[root at coyote RPMS]# rpm -Uvh i386/cups-1.1.22-1.i386.rpm
/etc/security/selinux/file_contexts: No such file or directory
error: Failed dependencies:
        cups < 1:1.1.20-4 conflicts with dbus-0.22-4

Whats the connection between an old version of cups thats not
even installed and dbus-0.22-4?
