Hint: Do you have the raw file printing rules enabled?

Hello all,

I'm using a Linux server which has an HP890C printer attached to it and on the same network there's my company laptop running XP as dictated by the company.
Through the use of samba 2.2 I am able to set up shares on my Linux server which are then usable from within XP. No problem there.
But I'd like to print too. Samba seems to be set up alright for printing through cups from what I gather after extensive reading the docs. From the XP laptop, I can see the printers on offer and I can add a printer. XP only ones came and asked me what printer it was. All my subsequent redefinitions of the printer (delete + add) never again asked me which printer it was. Bottom line is I can't print the test page and in the error_log of cups I get:
"print_job: Unsupported format 'application/octet-stream'!"
"Hint: Do you have the raw file printing rules enabled?".
Does this mean it thinks the printer was defined as a "raw" printer or are there "printing rules" that make a printer also accept raw input?
Thanks for your insights,
Guy.
