[cups.general] HP PSC-750 "Media tray empty" Error

Just as an aside, now that we've got printing successfully sorted out,
do you know what I'd need to do to get xsane to recognise the scanner
which is built into the PSC-750 unit?

Is hplip the only way to do this, or are there other options?
