[cups.general] Printing to remote server hangs on 'Getting Supported Attributes'

My situation is as follows:

I have a system running CUPS that can successfully print to a variety of
printers. I want to make it the print server for a large number of other
unix systems on my network.

I have told my server to listen on port 631, and have installed cups on
the other machines.

On one of the client machines, I have used the web interface to add a
printer, resulting in the following entry in printers.conf:

<DefaultPrinter gute>
Info
Location
DeviceURI ipp://server.host.name/gute
State Idle
Accepting Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
</Printer>

I then used the web interface to start a test page. According to the
web interface: "Printer busy; will retry in 10 seconds".

According to error_log:

D [19/Jul/2004:16:44:03 +0800] [Job 4] Getting supported attributes...
D [19/Jul/2004:16:44:13 +0800] [Job 4] Getting supported attributes...
D [19/Jul/2004:16:44:23 +0800] [Job 4] Getting supported attributes...
D [19/Jul/2004:16:44:33 +0800] [Job 4] Getting supported attributes...
D [19/Jul/2004:16:44:43 +0800] [Job 4] Getting supported attributes...

(this happens roughly once every ten seconds)

Anybody know why this would be hanging?

Thanks!
