I think with raw printing, you hardly can do anything on this issue. 
If oyu let the job go through the CUPS filters, you could modify the
printer's PPD
and insert a job patch file statement that redefines the tray2 setting
to whatever
you want.

Post (an URL to) your printer's PPD and a sample file to get more
advice.
