CUPS daemon won't start

Did your initial installation process report any errors? Or did you try
an
upgrade from an earlier distribution instead of a clean install?

I ask this because I myself installed a SuSE 8.2 installation quite out
of
the box and I have no trouble with that weird novell backend and its
dependencies.
