cups not working after lightning strike

I'm running cups-1.1.17-13.3.0.3 on a RedHat Linux 9.0 machine. Two
weeks ago my house was apparently hit by lightning and my
computer/server was affected. I got it going again but have been unable
to print since then. lpstat -t gives this:

scheduler is running
system default destination: Xerox
device for Xerox: parallel:/dev/lp0
Xerox accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00
printer Xerox is idle. enabled since Jan 01 00:00

I can go to the Web-based interface and try to do administrative tasks
and can apparently stop and start the printer but when I try printing a
test page I get a message that the connection was refused. I know that
the printer is OK because I have been able to print successfully from my
laptop computer.

Below I have copied some recent output from the error log file. I have
also discovered, in trying to use Samba, that my /etc/inetd.conf file is
missing. I don't know whether or not that file has anything to do with
cups.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. You may e-mail me directly if
you wish

Thanks,
Kevin Phillips
