[cups.general] spooling lpd jobs

hi All !

I'm a newbie to cups, and not a specialist on linux.

Here's my problem :

I have to install a server to spool print jobs from a mainframe in an
extranet. The aim is that the mainframe send lpd jobs to the spoolserver
to a print queue, and the spooler will send printqueues to the dedicated
printer (about 150 queues). I planned to use cups to allow printer
administrators to access the spool server to manage their jobs with a
web interface

I have installed my server : Dell poweredge with Redhat Linux 8.0.
I have installed the cups packages and the foomatic and omnipage drivers :
cups-drivers-1.9-1.20020617.6
cups-drivers-hpijs-1.9-1.20020617.6
cups-libs-1.1.15-10
cups-drivers-pnm2ppa-1.9-1.20020617.6
cups-1.1.15-10
foomatic-1.9-1.20020617.6
Omni-foomatic-0.7.0-6
Omni-0.7.0-6

printers are networked with HpJetdirect printservers using socket on
port 9100.

Here are my questions :

I've read in the software administrators manual that, to run in
lpd-mode, I have to modify /etc/inetd.conf by adding a line. My problem
is that, on my system, i can't find an inetd.conf file. So where can I
add this line to run cups in lpdmode ? Can it be added in the
/etc/xinetd.conf.

This done, How can I create and where are stored the printqueues ?

Then I suppose print queues can be considered as classes so I can design
printers to it ?

Thanks for your replies.

Regards.
