Deskjet 820C Problems

I've made a little progress.  The initial problem I reported was caused by a
monkeyed up PPD.  foomatic was expecting a carriage return because of the
&& on the FoomaticRIPCommandLine entry in the PPD, but it was all on one
line.  At any rate, I've gotten past that, but now I'm hitting a broken
pipe error in the call to gs.  Here's foomatic-rip.log snippet:
