CUPS daemon won't start

I've applied successfully the following guidelines
supplied me from feedback at suse.de:


Very many reasons are possible to get a segmentation fault.
Therefore I don't know what it may be in your particular case.

A brutal method which may help is to
- uninstall the cups packages,
- remove the contents of /etc/cups/* (but not /etc/cups/)
- remove the /var/spool/cups/ and /var/log/cups/ directories
- re-install the cups packages
