localhost:631 unreachable

I've just installed Darwin on an Intel box and I'm unable to configure my printer. http://192.168.1.5:631 (that's the box's IP address) is unreachable though port 80 works fine. Cups 1.1.20rc1 came preinstalled in the package.

Another problem with CUPS on this box is that cupsd uses up ALL available resources at all times. I have to kill it to get any real work done. There are 2 cups processes running:
  222  ??  S      0:00.78 /usr/sbin/cupsd
  240  ??  Rs     1:50.01 /usr/sbin/cupsd

Process 222 hovers around 0% usage while process 250 hovers around 90%. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be the problem?
