add new printer

I need to install a HP printer under debian 3.0.
I start the implementation of the driver.
I arrived to a point where I call http://localhost:631 to add the new printer.
At that time, I am asked to enter the user name et le passwd.
Also I write le right user name and le right passwd, (the passwd for the super user and for the user is the same) I am prompted to rewrite again and again the user name and the passwd with that info: This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the resource.
