online update broke printing

In SUSE 9.0 most recent online update, something changed.

lpq
epson_stylusc80 is not ready

Anyone have any advice as to how I can get my printing services to work again?  I have tried running yast to reconfigure the printer.  It runs and autodetects the printer just fine, then I run a test print and nothing happens, but when I choose "stop" it cycles the printer (so there's some connection).
