Let me restate: we'll likely move to a Unicode-only text output
model, so only a single file will be needed to provide the mapping
from Unicode to PostScript fonts.  Essentially, a simpler version
of the utf-8 file will be used for all charsets.

OK, that's incorrect; the current Adobe glyph naming standard (on
the technotes pages, don't have a link handy) uses Unicode numbers
instead of names for all new characters, so you'll need to fix the
fonts to use the proper names.
