I just built the 5.0 beta yesterday, but in my poking and proding i've found that i can write to the printer (print a nozzle check page with escputil) but i cannot read from the printer, so i'm going to first start off by dumping OpenBSD and putting a current version of NetBSD on that laptop, we'll see if that helps at all.

i'll keep you updated as to the status of all of this.
