[cups.general] Better way to add a filter to a printer ? -SOLVED

I missed 3 very important things!

- the printers themselves have settings for the tray
contents. The printer that printed from the lower tray
did so because that was the only tray set up as
containing "plain".

- they support postscript, so no need for a foomatic
driver, only the right PPD.

- the PPD lets you specify how many trays the printer
has. In Windows, if you don't configure the printer
with more than one tray, it will always print from the
first one...


(and of course, I will get to work tomorrow morning
and nothing will work ...)
