CX6600 and SAMBA

Well, from CUPS on the linux machine, the CX6600 works flawlessly, however, i'm not having as much luck with SAMBA.  SAMBA is linked with libcups, i have printing = cups set in smb.conf, and i can print to the printer from windows, but the print job is never sucessful.  it gets as far as sucking the paper into the printer to print, but then stops there only after partially printing the page.

I now get:

"Unable to open USB device "usb://EPSON/Stylus%20CX6600": No such device"

I am power-cycling the printer to see if that helps.

what could be causing things to hang up like this?  is there something i need to know that i'm not doing perhaps?
