Dont know whath this Error log means

I had a similar error and found a file called
/tmp/foomatic-rip.log
(yes, it's not in /var/log/cups/error.log) which suggested i was missing a package called hpijs .  installing this package fixed the probblem.  I do not know why the foomatic log is not moved to /var/log/cups, or why there wasn't a more specific error statement from cups.
